Ayushmann Khurrana's Udta Teer has managed to cross the Rs 10 crore mark at the box office by the end of its second day, a milestone that offers some reassurance for a film whose opening narrative was still taking shape. For Khurrana, whose brand has long rested on content-driven choices with reliable weekend pulls, the early numbers are a baseline — neither a disaster nor the kind of launch that sets trade circles buzzing.

The third day, however, tempers the optimism. The film added roughly Rs 8.10 crore on Day 3, according to The Times of India, taking its cumulative total to around Rs 19 crore. By the usual logic of Bollywood releases, the opening weekend is where a film must bank its goodwill before weekday drops set in — and Udta Teer's trajectory so far reads as steady rather than surging.

The more uncomfortable comparison comes from The Indian Express, which notes that Udta Teer has earned less than 25% of what Thamma managed over a comparable window. In an industry where perception moves as fast as receipts, that gap matters. It reframes Udta Teer's Rs 19 crore not as a success in its own right, but as a figure overshadowed by a competitor running well ahead of it.

For Khurrana specifically, this is familiar territory. His career has been built on films that either overperform relative to expectations or hold on through word of mouth rather than explosive openings. Whether Udta Teer follows that pattern depends less on the weekend and more on how it sustains itself once the release-week noise fades.

As it stands, the film has done the minimum required: crossed its first milestone, avoided a collapse, and kept itself in the conversation. What it hasn't yet done is make the case that it belongs in the same league as the releases it's being measured against. The coming weekdays will determine whether Udta Teer is a slow builder or a story of untapped potential.
